California License Plate Game Printable, All 50 States Plus Mileage Log

Coastal palms, a surfboard on a California plate, and 49 other states still to find. The California license plate game printable keeps every spotter honest from the first mile.

Four sections fill this single sheet. The upper left holds a numbered 50-state grid, each cell showing the two-letter abbreviation and full state name with a small checkbox to mark off each spotted plate. To the right sits a mileage log with columns for date, starting point, destination, and miles driven, plus a total miles box at the bottom. Below the grid, a “Things I Spotted” checklist offers 20 illustrated sightings, from mountains and lighthouses to wild animals and hot air balloons, each paired with a checkbox. The lower right panel is a large blank “Draw Your Road Trip” box for sketching the day’s highlight.

This California license plate game printable works best when one copy goes to each passenger old enough to hold a pen. The state grid cells are compact, so a fine-tip ballpoint or thin marker keeps marks tidy. The mileage log rows are spacious enough for legible handwriting at each stop, and the drawing panel gives kids a genuine creative outlet when the scenery slows down. Part of the Road Trip Games collection, this sheet covers the full journey rather than just the plate count.

Headed west? The California license plate game printable tracks all 50 states, logs miles, and saves a blank drawing box for trip memories. Instant download.

Usage Notes

Fine liners in the 0.3 to 0.5 mm range suit the compact state grid cells without bleeding into neighboring boxes. The mileage log columns are wider, so a standard ballpoint works comfortably there. The drawing panel takes light watercolor pencils if you let it dry flat, though standard copy paper will cockle with wet media, so keep it to dry tools.

Printing Tips

Printing double sided is not needed here since the layout is self-contained on one page, but bumping paper weight to 24 lb or 32 lb copy paper cuts down on flex when kids write in the car. Run a copy per passenger before you leave the driveway so nobody is sharing during the first hour.
