The two map sections are meant for coloring, so colored pencils are the practical choice there since markers risk bleeding. Filling the page digitally before printing also works well if your child prefers typing their research first.
Printing Tips
Leave a half-inch left margin when printing so the page punches cleanly into a three-ring binder without clipping any fields. Running off a small stack at once before a geography unit saves repeated trips to the printer, and 24 lb paper holds up better than standard 20 lb when the maps get colored.
