Elapsed Time Worksheet, 6 Clock Pair Problems

Six start-and-end clock pairs, times ranging from 8:00 AM to 4:55 PM, and one blank line per problem asking your student to find exactly how much time passed.

Each of the six problems on this elapsed time worksheet 3rd grade math page shows two analog clock faces side by side, one labeled Start Time and one labeled End Time, with the written time printed beneath each clock. Students read both clocks, calculate the difference, and record the elapsed time on the blank line below. The times cross the noon boundary in some problems, which is where third graders most often get tripped up, making this a well-targeted practice set for grades 2-4.

A reminder at the bottom of the page prompts students to count by minutes and hours if they need a strategy, so it works well as independent practice once you have introduced the concept. It also fits naturally into a morning math warm-up or as a check-in after a unit study on telling time and measurement. Your homeschooler practices reading analog clocks, computing differences across AM and PM boundaries, and showing their reasoning in the provided work space.

Six analog clock pair problems make this elapsed time worksheet 3rd grade homeschoolers need for building real fluency with hours and minutes.

Usage Notes

A pencil is the right tool here since students may want to jot counts in the margins or cross out and revise. The six-problem layout gives enough space between problems for guided instruction, where you work through one together before your student completes the rest independently.

Printing Tips

Standard 20 lb copy paper works fine for pencil work. Portrait orientation is already set. Printing two or three copies lets your homeschooler revisit the same problems on separate days to build automaticity.
