Homeschool School Year Goal Setting Form, Five Goal Areas

Before the new curriculum arrives, the homeschool school year goal setting form gives your family a single page to name what actually matters this year, not just what you plan to teach.

The form opens with a student name, school year, and date header, then moves into an “Our Homeschool Vision” box with three ruled lines and the prompt “What do we want to cultivate and experience this year?” Below that sits a priority checklist offering nine options across three columns, including Spiritual Growth, Life Skills and Independence, Creativity and Interests, and an open Other field.

The main grid tracks five goal areas, Academic, Character and Spiritual Growth, Life Skills and Independence, Relationships and Community, and Personal Interests and Wellness, each with columns for the goal itself, action steps, measurement, and a target date. A two-column footer divides into “How We Will Stay on Track,” with three fill-in bullet prompts for reviewing, celebrating, and adjusting, alongside a free-write “Notes and Encouragement” box. This form is one of the structured planning pages in the Homeschooling Forms collection, and it suits families who want a shared reference point to revisit at mid-year checkpoints rather than something filed away after August.

Setting Up Your Homeschool School Year Goal Setting Form

Usage Notes

Gel pens work well in the vision box and the notes section where the writing area is generous, but the five goal-area rows are narrow enough that a 0.5 mm fine liner keeps entries readable without crowding. Pencil is a practical choice for the target date column since dates shift. The form fills cleanly in a PDF editor if you prefer typed entries, and the field sizes accommodate a sentence or two per cell.

Printing Tips

Cardstock at 24 lb or heavier holds up better if this sheet gets pulled out repeatedly at monthly check-ins. Leave a slightly wider left margin in your printer settings if you plan to punch holes and store it at the front of your planning binder. Printing one copy per semester gives you a natural mid-year reset.
