Identifying Coins and Bills Worksheet, Name and Value Practice

Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and five different bills, all on one page your homeschooler identifies and values from scratch. This identifying coins and bills worksheet moves from recognition straight into counting.

Sections one and two ask your student to look at each coin or bill image, write its name, and write its value in the blank grid below it. Five coins run from a penny through a half dollar, and five bills run from a one-dollar note through a fifty. A reference box in the upper right lists every denomination with its symbol and written value, so students can self-check as they work. This identifying coins and bills worksheet is well suited for grades 1 through 3, particularly during an early money unit.

Sections three and four shift to counting. Your homeschooler writes the total value of each coin group in cents, then writes the dollar total for each pair of bills shown. The four coin sets mix denominations in ways that require students to add thoughtfully rather than glance and guess. Add it to a hands-on money lesson alongside physical coins, or assign it independently once your student has worked through the reference values.

Pennies through half dollars, ones through fifties: this identifying coins and bills worksheet covers grades 1-3 math in one complete page.

Usage Notes

Pencil is the right call here since students are writing names, cent values, and dollar amounts in small answer boxes, and corrections are likely as they build the skill. Works well as guided practice the first time through, then as an independent review once names and values feel solid.

Printing Tips

Standard 8.5 by 11 paper prints all four sections clearly. Portrait orientation keeps the grid rows aligned. Print two copies if you want one for guided work and one for the assessment round.
