Stuck on word problems? A math word problem template that walks students through each step keeps them from jumping straight to guessing and calling it done.
Six numbered sections guide students from reading the problem all the way to checking their answer. Section one asks them to restate the problem in their own words across five ruled lines. Sections two and three sit side by side: a five-bullet list for known information on the left, and an open box on the right for naming what needs to be found. Section four prompts a written plan, section five provides a large work space alongside a Useful Tools checklist covering addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, variables, diagrams, and charts. Section six closes the loop with a full-sentence answer and a sense-check prompt.
This math word problem template is part of the Homeschooling Forms collection and works especially well for students who tend to skip the reasoning and rush to arithmetic. The structured sequence slows that down without being punishing about it. Fill in one problem per sheet, or use the Name, Date, and Topic header fields to keep a week’s worth of practice organized in a folder.

Fine liners suit the narrow bullet lines in section two and the ruled lines in section one without bleeding through. The Solve workspace is generous enough for pencil work, which matters when students need to erase and rework. Laminating a copy and using a dry-erase marker lets you reuse the same sheet across multiple problems before committing answers to a fresh printed copy.

Leave a left margin of at least ten millimeters if you plan to hole-punch these for a binder. Printing a small batch on 24 lb paper gives enough rigidity for students writing with any pressure, and keeps the ruled lines crisp rather than fuzzy.
