Robot Subtraction Worksheet, Apples Stars Cars Pencils Balloons

Crossed-out apples, stars, cars, pencils, and balloons turn each row of this robot subtraction worksheet into a concrete, countable problem kids can actually see.

Each of the five rows pairs a cartoon robot holding a number card with a set of illustrated objects on the left, a dashed box showing the items being taken away with X marks through them, an equals sign, and a blank answer box on the right. The objects change with every row: five apples, four stars, six cars, seven pencils, and three balloons, keeping visual interest high across all five problems.

Designed to slot into an early math rotation in a homeschool day, the robot subtraction worksheet walks learners through the “take away” model by letting them count what remains after the crossed-out group is removed. Answer boxes are large enough for a child’s handwriting, and the bottom reminder strip spells out Take Away, Equals, and How Many Left so the vocabulary stays in view while they work.

Five picture problems make up this robot subtraction worksheet, with crossed-out objects and answer boxes ready to fill in. Free instant download.

Usage Notes

The answer boxes are roomy enough for a chunky pencil or a broad-tip washable marker, so even early writers can fit their numerals comfortably. Ballpoint works cleanly on standard copy paper without bleed, but avoid felt-tip on lightweight stock since the X-marked dashed boxes sit close to the answer area. Laminate a copy and let kids write answers with a dry-erase marker for unlimited rounds of practice.

Printing Tips

A single-sided print on 20 lb copy paper is plenty for pencil use, but bump to 32 lb if markers are part of the routine. Print several copies at once to cover a full week without returning to the printer mid-lesson.
