Striped Octagon Square Grid Coloring Page

Rows of striped octagon square grid tiles lock together in a pattern that genuinely tricks the eye into seeing depth before you have colored a single band.

Each tile in this pattern combines a square center with a large eight-sided frame built from tightly packed concentric lines, four diagonal arrow-like chevrons pointing inward toward a tiny square at the exact middle. Where the tiles meet, an X shape forms from overlapping striped bands, so the grid never fully reads as individual units. It pulls you through the whole sheet at once.

The diagonal chevrons inside each tile are the session’s main reward: run a gradient from corner to center and the small square pops forward like a bead. Part of the Geometric Designs collection, this page sits at the dense end of the difficulty scale. The line spacing is tight enough that the session is slow and meditative rather than quick, and every color decision echoes across every tile.

Usage Notes

Watercolor pencils used dry are a good opening move here: a sharp point fits the narrow striped bands cleanly and a lightly dampened brush can blend within each chevron section without bleeding into neighboring lines. Blending pencils help smooth transitions inside the concentric frames without lifting the paper surface. Alcohol markers can flood a section quickly but the tightly spaced lines make bleeding a real risk, so test on a spare print before committing to a full tile.

Printing Tips

Card stock at 65 lb or heavier keeps the page flat if you plan to use any moisture, and because the line density is so high, printing at 100 percent scale rather than scaling down preserves enough space in each band to actually color it.
