The book title and author columns are narrow, so a fine liner or a sharp pencil keeps entries legible without crowding the cell. Star ratings are small hollow outlines, sized for a ballpoint pen or a fine-tip marker to fill or circle easily. The notes column is slim enough that abbreviations work better than full sentences, and pencil is a good call there if a child wants to revise a thought mid-book.
Printing Tips
One single-sided sheet is all you need for the season. Use at least 24 lb paper so repeated handling does not soften the edges, and print a fresh copy at the start of each summer rather than laminating, since the writing spaces are too small for a dry erase marker to be practical.
