Typing and Tech Skills Progress Tracker, Four Skill Areas

Keyboard shortcuts, cloud storage, online safety, spreadsheet basics: your typing and tech skills progress tracker puts every digital milestone in one tidy grid.

Four skill areas anchor the main table: Typing Basics (home row keys, finger placement, accuracy, and early speed targets), Typing Fluency (speed benchmarks from 5 WPM up to 30+ WPM plus reduced errors and consistent practice), Tech Skills (file management, internet search, email, online safety, and cloud backup), and Productivity and Tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, digital organization, and keyboard shortcuts). Each skill row has four checkbox columns: Not Started, In Progress, Competent, and Confident/Mastery, with a Notes/Wins column at the right edge.

Below the skill table, three side-by-side sections round out the sheet. The Goals panel holds three numbered short-term goals (1 to 3 months) and three long-term goals (6 to 12 months). A Monthly Practice panel logs average weekly minutes for every month from January through December. The Reflection panel prompts What Went Well, Challenges We Encountered, and Next Steps. Student name, age, grade, start date, and review date fields sit at the top. This typing and tech skills progress tracker suits a single student tracked across a full academic year, and the four-stage checkbox system makes stalled skills easy to spot at a glance.

Getting Started With Your Typing and Tech Skills Progress Tracker

Usage Notes

The checkbox squares are small but workable with a fine-liner pen or a sharpened pencil if you prefer to erase and reuse unmarked copies. The Notes/Wins column is narrow, so a 0.38 mm pen keeps annotations legible without crowding. Goal and reflection lines offer a bit more room, making a medium-point ballpoint comfortable there. The sheet also fills in cleanly as a digital PDF if you prefer typed entries over handwriting.

Printing Tips

Print single-sided on 24 lb paper so the Monthly Practice and Reflection sections stay crisp for the whole year. Punch two holes along the left margin and slip it into a binder at the start of your tech unit. Printing a fresh copy each academic year gives you a clean mastery record without erasing old checkboxes.
