Welcome Back to School Handwriting Page, Lined Writing Sheet

First day of school, blank page energy. This welcome back to school handwriting page gives kids something bright to write on before they even unpack their backpack.

The top header is packed with detail: a blue backpack loaded with supplies, a red apple, a stack of books with a pencil cup, a paper airplane, and a bold banner reading “Welcome Back to School!” in multicolored block letters. Both side borders run the full length of the page with small illustrated icons including yellow school buses, red apples, pencils, stars in multiple colors, notebooks, globes, scissors, crayons, and curling ribbon accents. The bottom edge continues the party with an open book, a cup of crayons, scissors, and more stars.

The welcome back to school handwriting page sits within the Handwriting Practice Pages collection and sets a cheerful, energetic tone that matches the start-of-year buzz. It works well for a first journal entry, a “what I did this summer” prompt, a letter to a new teacher, or any classroom writing warm-up during the first week.

Grab this welcome back to school handwriting page and give kids a cheerful place to write on day one. Instant download.

Usage Notes

Fine liners are the go-to here because the lines are closely spaced and a fine tip keeps words neat without crowding the guidelines. Ballpoint pens also work well and won’t bleed through to any decoration on the reverse. Fountain pens and heavy gel inks risk feathering on standard copy-weight paper, so save those for a thicker stock if kids want to fancy it up. The illustrated borders sit close to the writing area on both sides, so a wide marker or chunky pencil tip may clip the artwork at the edges.

Printing Tips

A 75 to 90 gsm copy paper weight is fine for one-sided use, but bump to a 100 gsm or light cardstock if you want to use the reverse without any show-through. The design fills a standard letter sheet and does not need trimming for a binder or folder.
